Jelly fish have to be one of my favourite creatures to photograph - they are so capturing and memorizing in their movements and with interesting aquarium lighting you can get some good shots really easily. I've enjoyed taking photographs of Jelly's at The Deep in Hull and also at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago - the latter being home to a Jelly Fish exhibit which is being extended through into 2013. The aquarium itself is really worth a visit if you're ever in Chicago - we got to see a aquatic show with dolphins, a 4D film alongside seeing all the different exhibits but I especially loved the corals and the Jelly's. So I thought it was about time the Jellys made a show on my blog! Our Chicago pictures and stories seemed to get a little delayed and pushed aside because of Christmas, I hope you don't mind their publication half a year later!

Have you ever visited the Shedd Aquarium? What are your favourite animals? Do you have an animal you love to photograph?

  2. OH MY GOSH. I love jellyfish! They just look so freaking cool. And your shots are always amazing, but I never knew you could photograph like these! They look like you were actually in the water!

    1. Hehe - you weren't allowed to use flash but my camera actually didn't mind that for once and just putting up the camera against the glass of the display made it pull off in the end. Luckily the cases were all brightly light up with the different colours so that really added to the affect!

    1. Thank you, aquariums tend to be worth a look but sometimes they always end up being/looking the same! I love huge cases and displays of fishes and sharks together - so cool!

  4. Amazing shots! They sure are strange creatures and the fact that us humans do not get to see them often makes them even more fascinating! Lovely! I am now following. Come visit me and say hello!

  7. Ooo these are some great shots! I have to admit though, jellyfish really creep me out.
I went swimming in a sea of them once (none stinging ones) and was fine with them, however when I was walking up the beach, my brother put one down the back of my swimming costume and I was mortified! God I wish I had forgotten that memory!
I also think of Finding Nemo when I see pictures or videos of them.

    1. Ah that would have scared me! I saw a load of them in Scotland once, just swimming happily along, they are always so funny to see on the beaches though.

    1. Its a shame they get hidden away in the ocean and people get a bad image of them because of the danger that comes with some of them.
