LIFE: Row Row Row Your Boat

On Saturday we took a trip back to Kensington Metropark to hire a rowing boat to get out onto Kent Lake. After my panics of getting into the boat [hate how it wobbles and moves and slides when you're stepping in] so much so that I clung onto the sides for dear life for the first couple of minutes it was rather a lot of fun. Joe rowed us out for an hour and a half across to one of the quiet bays, around an island and back into the dock. With it being another bright sunny day here in south east Michigan the reflections on the waters surface were amazing and luckily my camera was playing game in letting me capture some of it.

  1. As I look out at the grey and dismal street I live on, how I long to be in that rowing boat!

    1. I certainly want to go back and being on the lake there was a nice natural breeze going on which heated with the heat!

    1. It does have a romantic feel to it and it was a lot of fun. Although we had near misses bumping into other people and it was rather busy on the lake too!

  3. Messing about in a boat - such a gorgeous way to spend a little time! :-) (Also I'm slightly keen on the Notebook much like Alice!)

    1. There was so many different boats to hire too. Joe want's to hire a kayak next time - that seems far far too close to the water for my liking!

  4. I am so jelly that you got to go boating! I live in the most landlocked place ever, so even though I am scared of drowning, I totally want to be out by the water just to cool off!

    Great shots, as usual, Rachael!

    1. Ah seriously I was so scared about the drowning bit - especially when getting into and out of the boat. I've never gone rowing before ever and yeah, I was having a mild panicky session! Growing up in the UK you're never more then say 2 hours from the sea, so moving to Michigan although we have lakes I feel landlocked!

  5. I agree with what Louise said, it's dismal here. I'd kill for some leisurely splashing about right now! x

  9. Aww this post reminds me of Sweden! We spent summers in boats on the lake. Although I couldn't do it now because I'm terrified of deep water! Looks like such a fun day though :) Photos are great!

    1. I stupidly read a map with the depth of the lake in places - up to 30 feet which we were happily rowing over. Yeah that didn't help my nerves!

    1. I can totally imagine. Michigan is one of the Great Lake states so there's so many lakes around here - lucky people get to live right on the shore line and have their own jetty - how good would that be?!
