LIFE: Things ... Currently

things

Lists, lists, lists.

Lists are helping me focus right now. While I wish I could grab my hands on a magical watch like Bernard (American kids you were missing out not growing up with Bernard's Watch, a show about a kid that had a watch that stopped time). We have an offer on a house that's working through the system, works picking up, i'm packing like there's no tomorrow, trying to find that spare out to craft, get out into the sunshine, my blogs feeling a bit neglected. My blog reading list, more so.

So it's been a while since i've done one of my life/things posts, I thought I'd combine it with a currently kinda tag and throw it out there, so we all feel a little more grounded.
  • Reading - great positive articles about Detroit, like the awesome street art boom in the city
  • Watching - Lots of marathons - well Bar Rescue and NCIS LA for hours on end. Niceeee.
  • Trying - to relax and not be overly stressy about everything
  • Eating - these chocolate cupcakes with this vanilla butter cream frosting, I just had to bake something on Tuesday (or it might have been Monday, I forget), these fit the bill.
  • Pinning - lots of ideas and wishes from my office come craft room to finally having that garden
  • Crafting - everything between a Red Sky at Night cross stitch to a cute little birdie that'll be turned into a thank you card, alongside finally working on a blanket, crocheted from a huge granny square (you can always keep up with my craft adventures ya know on my Hook Stitch Hook blog)
  • Going - to lots of flea markets but not really finding much
  • Loving - finally being acclimatised (somewhat) to the American summer, finally
  • Hoping - that this house doesn't fall through
  • Thinking - my British accent made a barista's day yesterday, she was very happy hearing it that's for sure
  • Enjoying - going to some yardsales for a change, great place for cheap vinyl we're finding
  • Listening (to) - my Billie Holiday boxset and Simply Red - growing up with my mam listening to Simply Red rather often, I finally found a $1 vinyl copy of a New Flame, yeah that was coming home with me. That and Skid Row, lots of Skid Row.
  • Finishing - not enough packing as a I probably should to be that's for sure.

While i'm not one to apologise for life happening, for not posting as often, or as well or whatever as normal, it's probably kind to give you a heads up and all. Whatever happens with this house, good or bad i'll be taking a little break once July rolls around, just to catch up with myself and ya know, enjoy summer. As ever you can always follow me on Twitter if that's your thing.

Hows things with you?

  1. Things are great, and I'll be disappearing myself at some point. You're right: you don't need to apologize. First, Skid Row was my first concert ever in life. Second, you'll be happy to know I got a record player for an early birthday present to myself. LOL. Third, good luck on getting the house; I know it can be frustrating bidding and then losing to someone else. Fourth, enjoy these American summers! =) -Jess L

    1. What an awesome band to see for your first ever concert! Jealous! They are coming to Detroit in August, keep meaning to buy some tickets to see them and yey for a record player, you'll have to start collecting records now too! Luckily we've never been out bid with the house buying, it seems to go wrong with the appraisal part sadly, fingers crossed for this time around!

  2. Take all the time you need and lots of good luck with the moving process. I might miss some blog posts too because Uni is my main focus these days.

    1. Thanks! The longer I blog and the older I get the more okay I am with taking that time off blogging to just sit back a little. Good luck with finishing your uni papers off!

    2. Thank you! I think breaks are definitely healthy, for you and for the blog too!

  3. No need to apologize, I say take the time and enjoy summer! Buying a house can be stressful, and if you feel like blogging is just adding more stress to your "to-do" list then I say scratch it off and put it back on the list when you have more time. :) Glad you are finding lots of vinyl goodies at the yard sales! Every time i go to the flea market near me I never find anything... and when I do, it's actually pretty overpriced! I checked out your board on garden ideas ... makes me want to have a garden! :)

    Good luck with everything,

    1. I keep thinking, i'll blog on so and so day and then something happens or comes up and it's like yeah, maybe not. It's hard enough trying to balance working and packing and then feeling too exhausted to think of anything interesting to write about! No doubt when/if we move and don't have the internet till the cable guy comes, i'll be swimming with ideas and no way to get them all published, such is life!

The flea markets and antique malls can be so hit and miss with pricing, there's no middle ground these days, even some yard sales are getting pretty over priced, but I guess the hunting for the bargains is half the fun, if you have the time!

Yeah, my garden board is my to go board for cheering myself up for my lack of a garden now!

  4. Oh, all the extra stuff I could get done if only I had Bernard's watch! That thing would be so freakin handy sometimes! I hope everything goes well with this house and it all comes together nicely for you. I've had an absolutely terrible week but it's Friday now which means it's the weekend and things are finally starting to look up. Well, fingers crossed anyway!

    1. Haha it comes, it goes. I certainly tone the Yorkshire part down but it's certainly still British :)

  7. You are a busy little bee! Moving is never fun. We moved 400 miles and to a new state. It's been great but getting used to different weather and altitude can be trying at best.

    1. Yeah with moving from the UK to the US you'd think i'd be use to moving, even with this move being less than 5 miles down the road. You just don't realise how much stuff you have until you have to pack it all up!

  8. I always wished I had Bernards watch! Life would just be 10x easier, if only such a thing existed... Fingers crossed on the house front :) xx

  10. Aw I remember Bernard watch! Can't wait to see your craft room and garden, moving house must be very exciting, good luck with it and enjoy your break! I also love Flea Markets when I can find stuff, not helpful when you can't! x

  11. Saw your crochet snap a while ago and was completely inspired to pick up my own again! Cue blankets for everyone.
And Simply Red? My guilty pleasure!
