Vintage Greetings

So how many of us actually remember, or bother to that matter to send birthday cards yet alone postcards?! That's why I find particular delight in these vintage postcard greetings. Often they were sent just like we would (or did) send birthday cards but additionally just to offer best wishes. They were often embossed and had gold detailing and many feature a sweet little quote. Luckily all these were blank and in a great condition - hopefully their messages of best wishes will follow with them to their new homes.

All these postcards are currently up on my etsy store here along with many other vintage postcards.

  1. I can never pass up buying little piles of these beauties when I come across them on my thrifty adventures - they're just so special aren't they? They have such charm! I'm one of those boring sods who always, always, always remembers birthdays and quite enjoys picking out or making cards for them too!

  4. What pretties! They are frame-worthy, it would be a shame to use them! x

  5. Last month at an antique fair I discovered a box of these, and was quite taken, never having seen them before. Great aren't they? The ones I particularly like are the ones with handtinted photographs on, I use them to make my own cards, let me know if any of those find their way to your etsy store. Xx

  6. These cards are so sweet! I look looking through old cards at thrift shops. It is a shame people don't send postcards and letters as much as they did any more.

  7. I always love stumbling upon old postcards and greeting cards. They were far more touching back then, and were certainly more treasurable. Nowadays it's much more generic messages and tacky imagary. Sigh xxx

  8. I love handwritten letters and cards. That is one of the things I love about being a member of the Correspondence Club on Nnenna's blog. These cards look lovely.
