LIFE: April #PhotoAnHour

Back in February I took part in my first of the #PhotoAnHour monthly challenges organised by Jane, I sadly missed March due to being at a home buyer course so photos were somewhat impractical, but luckily, Saturday was busy busy for things and places for what we go up to.

With Saturday being right before Easter, estate sales where few and far between and with Record Store day we turned our attention to other things, hopefully this'll give you a peek into a different kind of Saturday for us!

PhotoAnHour

8am // spring means finally digging out my old Converse, and when I say old they are like nine years old and somewhat falling apart. But they are so darn comfy. But I forgot how cold my feet feel in them when it's not super warm out.

9am // after driving around we decided to start queuing up at Flipside record store for Record Store Day, they didn't open till 10 so we spent over an hour on not the warmest of mornings - Michigan skies are deceiving.

10am // just a little after 10am we came out with all our vinyl goodies in a fancy Record Store Day bag, we also stocked up on some much needed 12" protective covers and such - I'll be sharing the vinyl purchases in a post later this week.

11am // sadly Flipside didn't have the Cake boxset so we headed to Royal Oak and queued outside of UHF (they didn't any left by that time, sigh). I did notice this neat Record Store poster in their door though, sadly since noticed the lack of female musical artists in it though.

12am // waiting for a exceedingly long train to cross Woodward up in Ponitac, we were driving up to poke the Homes for Humanity resale store to see their prices on electrical appliances that we're going to need to buy when we buy a house.

1pm // back home after picking up a meal from steak and shake for lunch - awesome place for a burger (they also do good milkshakes just so you know)

PhotoAnHour

2pm // lazy afternoon started catching up on twitter, blogs and ebay, record player on, glaring at the tetris pile of moving boxes in the far distance

3pm // starting to stitch a blackwork piece I designed around the state map of Michigan for another embroidery hoop design for myself

4pm // currently playing Led Zepplin II, having a stackable record player we also had Blue Oyster, Black Sabbath and some of Ozzy's solo work all playing prior

PhotoAnHour

5pm // snack before we headed out, didn't particularly like then when I first moved, but Pop Tarts have certainly grown on me. I'd highly recommend the Cookies and Crème flavour. Nom.

6pm // heading north to the Palace in Auburn Hills, if I'd of taken it a couple of minutes prior, you'd of seen the weaving jackass driver that was on the road too- there's many jackasses on the roads in these parts

7pm // took our seats for the Harlem Globetrotters verses the All Stars game which was a pretty fun evening (again, there's another post with more pictures lined up)

The rest of the night was spent at the game until just before 9, eating a super late tea at McDonalds on the way home, seeing the return of my cold and watching Scrubs. Another highlight - Skid Row favoriting one of my tweets, it's the little things that's for sure!

You can always check out the #PhotoAnHour tag on twitter to see what everyone else involved got up to!

How did you spend your Saturday?

  2. Sounds like an awesome day. I am not big on sports, but always liked going to event because for some reason I feel energized. I love photo an hour posts!

    1. It was a fun "game" although it's as much about the comedy as it was about the sports!

  3. Oooh I want to do this too!! Cue extreme worrying that my days would be too boring to document on an hourly basis - I found Project 365 hard enough - a photo an hour sounds like extreme work! I'll have to schedule it for an exceedingly interesting weekend.

(I do indeed support Hull City - in as much as I can not living in Hull anymore. My brother is a Liverpool fan but Dad always said there should be law which states you have to support the team from the town in which you were born - said he as a non-sports fan....Whereabouts near Hull did you grow up?!)

    1. I've been doing a 365 day tag for myself with photographs but I call it my 365ish photographs because I miss days all the time, but I do the majority of the days lol. Luckily with this month for the photo an hour it happened on a Saturday that we had a lot of things to be doing, normally we're just driving around hitting estate sales and then I slob on the sofa for the rest of the day when we get back! My mam's originally from the east side of Hull (Sutton) but I grew up in a town between York and Hull :)

    2. Aah awesomeness! My Mum lives on Sutton Park, I'm originally from East Hull (Holderness Road). Brother is currently living in Elvington so I get my York fix when I can!

    1. Thank you - it's coming on nicely, i've done a little more since Saturday and hopefully be sharing it once it's done. Designing my own patterns is always a test of my nerves and skills for whatever reason!

  5. I love the photo an hour challenge but I'm hopeless at remembering to take photos at the best of times, never mind every hour! *whispers* Plus I think my days would be a little too boring! I may be doing a photo a day in April though... Looks like you had a nice busy day though :)

    1. Oh if they ever happen during a weekday, you'll see how boring my everyday life is and would probably just be snapshots of me buried under vintage stuff or sitting at the computer desk working!

  6. I always meant to start these then it gets to lunchtime and I've forgotten. I do love being nosey at what people do on a day to day sort of thing. The pop tarts sounds delicious! x

    1. Yeah I found Pop Tarts too sweet but I guess my food tastes have certainly Americanised over the years, they are great for snacks that's for sure!

  7. Aw. I love things like this, but I'd probably forget to take enough photos. I spent my Saturday between the allotment, my shop and visiting friends.

    1. Once you get into the routine of taking the photographs it's not so bad, plus Joe reminds me when I forget :)

  8. I've always wanted to try the photo-an-hour challenge. It seems like a lot of fun, but then it also seems like a lot of work! Great choice with Zeppelin. I must be really out of it because I've never heard of Record Store Day until recently from other bloggers! -Jess L

    1. See I haven't really seen it mentioned much outside of following the handle on facebook and twitter. It's certainly something that's boomed in popularity this year!

  9. I'm glad my average Saturday looks a lot like this :)
Really, though!? My feet never get cold in converse... Kris always complains his feet are cold.
