LIFE: The Small Things #7

Flower Magnolia

I probably should try and make these things posts a little more of a regular feature. Mainly because they give a much better snapshot of my everyday life. They come to feature the things, the photographs that you might have missed on twitter or might not otherwise ever appear on this blog. They come to cover the everyday, little events, the day to day happenings that come to make up my life.

Enough of the rambles - here's my list of the recent little things;
  • Reading - the first book I've picked up in months - black lake, pretty good so far
  • Watching - Frankenfoods - were they mash up two foods you might not necessarily consider eating together - certainly a show for some giggles
  • Trying - some Pinterest inspired home made bird feeders - if any bird(s) actually use it, it'll feature on here eventually
  • Eating - tasty BBQ food samplers at the Ferndale's Pig & Whiskey (a BBQ and whiskey festival) this weekend and some yummy peach crepes from the Original Pancake House
  • Pinning - lots of ideas for making the garden bird, bee and butterfly friendly
  • Crafting - not so much - my craft box still needs unpacking
  • Going - back to using Saturdays for hitting estate sales, it's been too long!
  • Loving - owning a house, just because
  • Hoping - to get back into my work routine without being distracted too much by the garden - but after finding that I have at least one teeny tiny bar of wireless signal in the garden, maybe i'll work outside more often
  • Enjoying - some caramel flavored moonshine
  • Listening - to Weird Al's, just because
  • Thinking - and wondering why people are still letting fireworks off, two weeks since the 4th of July ...
  • Finishing - my office come craft room decorations, it'll be a work in progress for a while (need to work on storage/shelving) but finally have my vintage advertisements and postcards on the walls.
  • Finding - that hanging picture frames is a pain in the behind
How are things with you?

    1. It's great fun being able to get outside - even to just watch the birds in the garden, although can only manage it on the cooler summer days, my English blood still isn't use to working in the heat!

  3. People in Michigan will let fireworks off until like October once the 4th of July comes around...I don't know why, I guess we're just weirdos :)

    1. It seems more noticeable this year, maybe because we're on a normal residential street. Tis annoying and certainly tests the nerves of my cats every night!

  5. All the good little things add up in the end. It's nice to notice them and make a conscious effort to appreciate them. I'm looking forward to the wedding being over and having more time and the desire to read again. It must be awesome to be living in your own house with a garden. Hope you continue to love every minute of it in your new home!

    1. Thank you! I'm certainly a lot more relaxed now that the hassle of all the waiting and stress and paperwork is finally all sorted, I think that's how i've got back into reading again, my mind was wandering off too much in the past to really enjoy reading anything!

  6. I'm glad you're loving owning the house, it seems like it was an amazing decision to move and the garden looks cracking. I think everyone is listening to Weird Al! I'm insanely jealous you have a craft room x

    1. Yeah it's much more of a stock/office room at the moment but I need to work on rearranging and getting some more storage in there to fully work in the crafty space, but either way it's nice just to have a room to keep it all in and be more organised about it all. Otherwise i'd be taking over the house lol.

  7. haha Kris and I have been listening to Weird Al too! We're obviously too cool :) Picture frames suck, just hanging things on walls in general sucks. I'm too impatient to make things straight.

    1. All the stupid picture frames that require TWO level nails to hang something on.

Picture was nearly going out the sodding window I tell thee.

    1. Been spotting more and more birds in the garden, not too sure if they're using the feeders though yet, have added in a bird bath for them for extra fun times!

  9. A tiny bar of wireless in the garden? SWEET! I have a one bar outside in the garage and that's it before it goes away. Should be nice to be outside blogging away! Oh! And beautiful photos :)

    1. Thank you!

It's super relaxing working away to just the birds tweeting that's for sure, there's even an outside plug right on the deck too - just calling my name!

  11. Ha we still have pictures on the floor because we haven't hung them yet and we moved in December???

Hanging pictures sucks even more when you have a carpenter boyfriend who notices that it's not level by 1mm. I would just be happy with them on the wall.

I said with my craft room - I'm hanging these up and you don't get to tell me that they're crooked because it's MY room!
He still brought out the level and fixed everything up, but I got them on the wall.

    1. Haha I never think they are straight even when the level says they are! My walls just become graveyards of nail hole marks ooops!

  13. Love this post. It is such a nice idea and snapshot of life (I might steal it) Pig and Whiskey and the moonshine sound awesome. Very jealous. Also, looking forwards to seeing the craft/office space when you're sorted. x

    1. Oh the Pig and Whiskey festive was awesome - if not terribly packed and made me remember I hate crowds but the food was worth it. I was surprised how sweet the moonshine was - probably because of the flavoring but it's well worth a try!

And yes, there is an office crafty space room tour planned very soon!
