So this time next week i'll be in London town for my medical. I'm hopping down from Yorkshire on the Monday merely for the total excuse to be a tourist, have a good wander, shop and relax before the medical Tuesday morning [still utterly dreading it]. Train tickets were far from cheap £75 and not even rush hour but I managed a sweet bargain on the hotel.
I have some ideas of tubing it down to Westminster, wandering up to Buckingham palace, hitting Regents Street, Oxford Street and the shops while checking out just where the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square is to I have a slight clue where i'm going for my interview. Then having a little peak around Marylebone which is the area i'm staying.
The Hummingbird Bakery and SNOG [one being my treat for getting through the said dreaded medical] are sights to hit; so too is Forever 21. I've seen loads of bloggers talk [in mixed views] about this store, and while I know it's American - I thought I'd grab a peek to see what the fuss is about! That and its an excuse to buy new clothes for Chicago!
So now bloggers i'm just looking for any hidden London gems be it shops or touristy things that might be worth a quick look into! Where would you suggest going? Avoiding? Anything and everything would be welcome!

Ohh have fun in London, I really want to take a trip down this semester at uni!
ReplyDeleteLet us know how you found Forever 21, as American fashion is quite different to that of the UK it's hard to imagine it here? They dress for hot summer days and us... well we just get a lot of rain.
xx
I would suggest going to Carnaby Street and Convent Garden. Carnaby's just off Regent Street and really easy to get to :)
ReplyDeleteOooh yes totally agree with The Hummingbird Bakery - I got a bit lost on my last visit to London when I went looking for one of their stores! No-one I asked had heard of it - how could you not know about the famous Hummingbird Bakery lol.. :)
ReplyDeleteThe first place I thought of when I read this is 'The Diner', located in Ganton Street, just off Carnaby Street. It's a 50's themed American diner and is pretty reasonabley priced (for London!) to top it off! Definitely recommend it! Check out http://www.thedinersoho.com - they've got photos and menus on there :)

I went to check out Forever 21 this morning, didn't like it though, the clothes weren't my style, they did have some nice bits of jewellery.
ReplyDeleteIf you like sushi you should check out The Japan Centre, not far from Picadilly circus station or the shop ARTBOX in Covent Garden for cute stuff like Hello Kitty etc.
There's a Lola's cupcakes in Topshop and the Food hall in Selfridges is always good to look around
I've prob missed loads and loads of stuff but that's all i can really think of for now

Oh wait i think i remember you saying how your Fiance likes comics?
ReplyDeleteDef check out Forbidden Planet near Leicester square :)
I'm desperate to go to Forever 21 too, I feel like i'm missing out!
ReplyDeleteI always recommend Covent Garden if you've never been, it's beautiful and there's loads of really unique stalls + shops. It's one of the places that really does live up to the hype :) x
If the weather's nice I'd definitely recommend popping to Hyde Park - no doubt you and your camera will catch something lovely for you to post!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the medical, I'm sure it will go smoothly. As someone with a somewhat chequered medical past (my file is several inches thick), I'm sure you'll pass the tests with flying colours!

ReplyDeleteOh how lovely, I adore walking around London! It's such a beautiful city and I enjoyed some carrot cake and strawberry cupcake from hummingbird bakery the last time i was there, so make sure you try them too:)
ReplyDeletehope you have lots of fun and i'm sure you'll go crazy in F21!
Hehe Sher, i'm rather excited about the shopping and wandering part of the trip! :D
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, I bet it all feels so very real. I have no useful tips although I do love browsing at the vintage dresses in Rockit at Covent Garden. Have a blast! x
ReplyDeleteooo sounds great fun, I recommend Covent garden as its a bit more unique and special, and there is so much to look at! The vintage shop Rokit is worth a look too. I went to F21 for the first time yesterday on Oxford Street and I really liked it... it is so big there is something for everyone and the jewellery is really fab! xx
ReplyDeletegorgeous pictures! Have a great time in londen, I know you will:D

Oh wow, good luck for your medical!
ReplyDeleteI live in London, so I have a couple of suggestions, although probably not as many as expected! If you like frozen yoghurt (due to the snog reference), Selfridges now have a Pinkberry, which is amazing and I would definitely recommend it; they also have a Lola's Cupcake cafe in the food hall, which is the best cupcake place in London, as far as I'm concerned!
I'd recommend a trip to Liberty of London, which is by Carnaby Street, it's kind of a completely unique cross between a boutique and a department store.
There's also an Ed's Diner just across the road from the new Forever 21 which I'd recommend :) have a lovely time! xx
Thank you for the head's up Francesca!
