I'll admit to being slow to catch onto the Christmas festive lark - both in reality and upon the blog. Nevertheless Christmas to me is just another excuse to get crafty - this year a couple of home made cards, crochet garland (if I ever get around to finishing it) and trying my hand at some beaded ornaments (if I ever find the time) are all on the to do list. If I was far, far more organised than I'll ever be i'd cross stitch far more cards then I did this year, in fact the only one I managed to do was one for the parents.
The design was made up from a vintage Christmas Village Sampler sewn upon some linen, a back stitched Merry Christmas added to the bottom all thriftly made from odds and ends I already had in stock.
Letters, postcards and card writing all seem to be a dying form, hopefully they don't die when it comes to Christmas Cards any time soon, it would certainly be a shame if they did.
Are you getting your craft on for Christmas?
Your cards are lovely :). Handmade cards are much better than shop ones I think. This is the first year in a while I haven't made my cards as they are quite time consuming. How many are you making?
ReplyDeleteSadly I've only had the time to make two, hoping to spread them out over the year in 2014 and make a lot more!
DeleteI am so bad at Christmas cards, my parents yell at me every year for not sending them a card! I don't think I've written a Christmas card out for a few years!
ReplyDeleteThese are very sweet, I look cross stitching when I was younger!

That's a shame, as long as I can remember i've tried to send some. I've been stitching since I was about 5 and it gets to the point of trying to cross stitch anything and everything when I get half the chance!
DeleteI love Christmas crafts. Alas I usually start but never finish. I am going to actually ice my Christmas cake this year though. Xx
ReplyDeleteI totally failed on remembering to bake a Christmas cake this year, sucks because I really like a good fruit cake :)
DeleteThis is beautiful Rachael! Your lucky parents :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's a shame sending handwritten cards and letters is dying out - I still exchange proper letters with my cousin and it's always lovely to get a letter full of news.

That sounds wonderful that you still exchange proper letters, it's far too easy and quick to type a half hearted email these days, whereas a letter really makes you think about what you're penning.
Deletethese cards look brilliant! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you - turned out better then I had hoped I will be honest!
DeleteBeautiful! Cross Stitching really reminds me of my mum she loved it! :) x

Thank you - cross stitching makes me remember how i started the craft after catching chicken pox at school and my mam giving me a project to do. Never looked back!
DeleteThese are so cool! I don't have the time, but I like to send out cards whenever I can. Birthday, Christmas, Halloween... everything!
