LIFE: The Things I Am and the Things I'm Trying to Be

things

Stumbling across Alycia's things I am, things i'm trying to be and things I'm not post the other week, I was itching to do one for myself. I'm super talented at knocking chips off of myself, not to good at bigging myself up or actually being nice to myself, it was an interesting change.

I am
more creative than I give myself credit for
a maker of a decent curry
a geek, nerd, trekie, vinyl junkie
excellent at procrastination
someone who cries in the cinema, always, regardless of the film
rather stressy
very sarky

trying to be
less bothered about things mentioned in blog chats - how your blog should be like this, you need to have that - I don't have time for that pettiness any more
more accepting of myself
creative
positive
better at listing stuff on etsy
less worrisome

I am not
patient
emotionally strong
very good at my poker face
able to sit and do nothing
a fan of folding the laundry

What about you?

  1. I hate folding laundry. I've been trying to get better at it so my husband doesn't have wrinkled clothes. I love and admire the "pretty" blogs but Im not a techie like that so I try and not compare myself to them. It's really hard to just be you in a world vying for attention.

    1. I try and hang everything up that I can get away with, even avoid doing the ironing, I don't make much of a housewife that's for sure! Yeah i'm with you about the pretty blogs, i'd love to be all into learning that but yeah one day, maybe!

  3. This is a lovely little idea. You are definitely more creative than you give yourself credit for just think of all the awesome cross-stitching and such you do! I'm with you on the blogging rules and I also have the habit at crying at films in the cinema - even ones that aren't especially sad!

  4. I am not very good at my poker face either! I try to be good at it but in the end my face shows how I feel and is easy to read. I'm actually okay with it though because I'm an honest person anyways...it just makes pulling off surprises hard! Lol

  5. You make an excellent curry? I've never made one before so I'd love to see how you make yours :). Oh and I'm with the previous comments about the blog chats, the debate on cameras vs phones are always ummmmm interesting to say the least.

I love posts like these as they make you get to know the blogger better. :)

    1. I've posted a couple of curry recipes that are easy to make - a simple one being this chicken curry (http://twenty-something-sherbet.blogspot.com/2012/08/chicken-curry-home-made-recipe.html) and my favorite to make being this mango chicken curry (http://twenty-something-sherbet.blogspot.com/2014/03/food-mango-chicken-curry.html). I've baked my own naan bread too but that's not always the quickest thing to do!

Wednesday is always home made curry night around ours, nearly always Indian curries, sometimes a Thai thrown in for good measure. I love it though, it's the one thing I really love making!

And yeah, those chats about the cameras in blog chats always makes me doubt my own camera sadly :(

  6. Love this post! It's always nice to recognise our talents and the things that we've been worrying about but actually, just don't matter.

  7. I don't mind a little laundry folding :)
I really like this idea, I might just steal it and post my answer on my own blog. Because stealing is one of the rules you know ;)

    1. I shall you invite you around mine to do my next pile of laundry folding.

      Do you iron too?

    2. No. I do not iron. I hate the ironing.

  9. LOL at the thing about blog chats. There's a lot of "interesting" advice floating around those (which I just try to ignore). I'm not a fan of folding laundry either... the other person in my household is nice and takes care of a lot of that. :P

    1. Our deal is that Joe takes the washing up and down into the basement to get it into the machines and i'm the folder!

  10. What a great post. I love you in chats though and I agree. People should stop saying how you should do blogging. Everyone does it their own way, that's why blogging is such a great hobby.

    1. That's the key thing people seem to forget, that for most it is a hobby, yet everything is taken so seriously! And yeah, I just throw out general statements in chats, most often when I can't keep up with them.

  11. Actually, there are quite a bit of similarities between us: I am creative, a bit of a geek/nerd/quirky, a BIG procrastinator, can be worrisome, and I can't sit around and do nothing and hate folding laundry too. I had to look up sarky, but I can be sarky too with my friends. I wonder what your MBTI personality type is? -Jess L

    1. I think I'm certainly highly on the introvert scale of things. Although for me it's second nature, with being an only kid and having parents that didn't particularly like any of my school friends, I was pretty much brought up alone and had to make my own forms of entertainment, so to me i'm far, far more comfortable by myself then in a group, I totally suck at trying to drum up a convo with a stranger too.

  12. I love this... I'm definitely going to write my own version! Being stressy is such a bind... I feel your pain x

  13. I love this, I may have to borrow it too as it's such an awesome idea. I'm with you on the blog chats and there are just so many now I just don't have time for them all x

    1. I'm cutting back on some that's for sure - or at least that's my intention but them being on a US afternoon time I get sucked in. Some are certainly now too big to be able to keep up with the convo that's for sure!

  14. Living in Bradford, I never really felt the need to learn to make good curry - it's easier to just make friends with your curry-cooking neighbours! :) We have a few similarities apart from that though! x

  15. It's funny how people like to tell you how to run your blog or what you should put on it or whatever. I don't mind constructive criticism at all but it's the other stuff that bothers me. Although what has been bothering me more lately is the infusion of spam posts again. At any rate, I enjoy your blog...:)
