The vintage film kiss

Sorry i've been utterly neglectful of my blog this week - its a mixture of totally hitting a brick wall with inspiration and just trying to relax and getting my body into some kinda of normality.

But anyway ...

They say, well The Times says that a death of the big screen death as occurred. Apparently it died in the 1970s due to the cult of the indie film, so why has nobody noticed or commented on it before. I guess we all want sex sex sex, so the simple yet passionate kiss disappearance has gone unnoticed. That is until you remember the kisses of;

Breakfast at Tiffany'sGone with the WindBetty Grable and Victor Mature - Footlight Sernade
Kiss of Death
From Here to Eternity.

So do you think the classic kiss is lacking in the films of today? Or are they just as noteworthy?

  1. I am a fan of the *classic kiss*... almost everyone right now are just interested for the *hot and heavy*.

    I want more romance in the movies, not just hot and steamy!

    Great post!:D

  3. I miss the old fashioned kiss. Now it's all sex and there's little romance. Makes me sad :(

  5. I love the old Hollywood kiss - the one Carrie and Berger did on SATC. So glamorous!

  6. The kisses in the movies always make me goosebumps. They have that antecipation moment when everything stops. Of course they were more noticed and enhanced in Classic movies where the sexuality of the characters was not so evident, but i believe we also have them in contemporary movies. A kiss is always a kiss ^^ Nothing can replace it

  7. I love the Bollywood non-kiss, where the lovely couple's faces turn to meet each other and then the camera pans to a Swiss Alp or the Eiffel Tower. So demure and old fashioned!

  9. Love a good old vintage kiss! In Gone with the Wind the actors were told to play out the final scene with only their eyes at first so they did kiss it looked passion filled!! x

  11. YES, the classic kisses are lacking in films nowadays!
    It's hard to define what it is, but I mean, just look at 'An Affair to Remember': you don't even really 'see' Nicky and Terry's first kiss, and it's still SO romantic :D
    Now that's vintage film magic (;
