Sunday sunday

Gah it's August tomorrow, this year is zipping by. August and six and a half months into this visa malarkey. Three quarters of the forms are filled in, Tuesday I hope to get my "immunisation" records [if that alone doesn't confuse my little countryside Drs surgery] and book my posh medical in London. Work are getting a bit sarky about the whole thing - one women wants more hours so probably wants me to leave quickly, others probably think I won't end up going. Another girl revealed on Facebook she's got engaged, while i'm totally happy for her i wish me and Joe got the same respect as a couple, i think we often get doubted and thought less of because we're long distance. Plus there's the matter of people at work not knowing we're engaged ...yeah that's a major secret.

Sitting outside this afternoon ended up being covered in those creepy thunder-bugs - aren't they awful little critters! Make me itchy thinking about them again. Yesterday was spent baking millionaires shortbread and chocolate muffins - I call it training to be a housewife then did even more sorting. Its going well! That and i've started wearing my gran's ring more - [it's the one on the left in the picture], it's one of the few jewellery pieces I really liked and I always thought it was a bit of a shame hiding it away in a box, i'm not a real big ring person but it suits well against my engagement ring. Plus I crazily came up with the idea of wearing half my bracelets onto the plane to America, I have rather a lot and i'm surprised at how much they weight, but i'mma not leaving them even if they stretch my arms off!

  1. You are so pretty!

Hope the doctors goes well, I still find it difficult to believe just how much hassle they put you through just to move to America.
Be awesome if the US would join the EU free travel thingy

  2. Oh I know! They don't trust a medical from your local Drs either so you have to book in to one of their approved London ones at the cost of £210! Plus more if I need any jabs. Sooo costly and so long! Just can't wait for the process to be over!

  3. Your engagement ring is really pretty! I'd just ignore work people, if they're anything like mine the best thing would be to nod and smile whatever they say - mine are all old washerwoman types who love nothing more than to bitch and gossip.

    xx

  6. I'll second Scarlett - I'm really not the world's biggest fan of thunder beetles, yuck! :-S

It must be very frustrating having people dismiss your relationship that way - clearly very small minded people!

  7. I can't believe people would just dismiss your relationship like that. I have a couple of friends in long distance relationships and to be perfectly honest their relationships are the most normal! Ignore them, and don't worry about your fancy medical, I'm sure it'll go great! xx

  8. Yeah i knows, I really shouldn't let what other people think bother me as much as I do. i believe in, and love what me and Joe has and that's all that matters. Just need to boost up my positive thinking!

  9. Your rings are gorgeous. I wouldn't worry about the silly ladies at work, I always find that people in good, strong relationships don't feel the need to chat about it all the time. People that go on and on about their relationships to people like it's the most important thing EVER are usually just trying to justify it...if that makes any sense lol x

  10. No Rachael that makes perfect sense and going by the experiences at work its very true! I just hate gossiping and telling everyone about what we do or did or how we are, we're just how we are! Just can't wait to leave to be honest, just another thing i can't be bothered to put up with!

  11. You are gorgeous!
Just ignore the tittle tattle at work, hard I know, but as Rachel before me wisely said, those in strong relationships never feel the need to discuss their private life, it's only the insecure ones that do.
Good luck with the medical. x

  17. Ooh I think I know just the bugs you mean - the tiny little black ones? I remember going up mount Vesuvius in Italy and getting absolutely gobbled by them - twas the most painful thing ever...and for such little insects they're goddamn vicious!
Sorry to hear about the trouble at work, hope it all improves soon! x

  18. I think it is a shame people are having some doubts as to the seriousness of your relationship with your guy just because it is long distance. If anything I think this goes to show just how much you two love each other to make it long long distance! When my best friend and I were away from home for a year, she had a long distance relationship with her guy and now that we are back they are still going strong.

  19. Lisa: Its a bit of a tale and half my reason which sometimes I wish I hadn't gone down the secret path we did. Basically we got engaged just under a year into our relationship and because of how they saw our relationship at work I just got scared about telling them. And its carried on that way for a year, which is hard when three people have since been engaged during that time frame. Now it just feels like we can't say anything, like why would we have kept the "secret" this long. Like we've dug our hole too deep and we can't back out now. Maybe we'll announce it on the way to Heathrow or something, or we'll just get married and say ta da!

It is those tiny black ones - they are awful aren't they Dani. I wanted to sit out in the conservatory this morning and blog but there's pesky black insects in there too, some crazy fly trying to look like a wasp, and a wasp. Now it smells of wasp killer.

I wish more people could think like that Sunny and star, I really do.
