LIFE: I Am Blank Because

Book

Remember when I stumbled across that things I am, things i'm not post, well after stumbling in a similar manner over I'm blank over on Little Miss Momma, I thought why the hell not. I'll do this one too. I always find these types of posts a great way of seeing a seek peek into the person behind the blog, so hopefully you might find it a helpful insight into what i'm like outside of the blogging world.

I'm weird because
  • i've never read/watched anything harry potter related, nor do I intend do, same for twlight
  • i don't have dreams to visit NYC or disney
  • while i'm britsh, I hate roast dinners ... especially yorkshire puddings ... urgh
  • i hate talking on phones, i'll never answer and I never check my voice mails, so my phone is nearly always on silent
  • apple sarnies are the best, as are cheese and celery sandwiches
  • at a month short of 28, i've never tried or learnt to drive a car
  • i can write backwards - like mirror write, it's hard to explain
  • i grew up being called weird because I could and would cross stitch, but apparently that's super cool these days. funny how things change

I'm a bad friend because
  • i take forever to reply to emails
  • i'm probably too honest and just say what I mean without really thinking
  • i'm a bit ranty

flower

I'm a good friend because
  • whenever I do get around to replying to emails, it'll probably be a pretty long one
  • if you're having a bad day/need advice, i'll just say it how I find it
  • stay true and i'll stick by you - i know only too well about friends dumping me
  • to be honest, i probably could do with working on this ...

I'm sad because
  • you can't get bakewell tarts or fish fingers in america and i've been craving them both all week
  • bills ... enough said
  • sometimes stock just vanishes aka i loose things too often
  • i've just finished the last bit of chocolate in the house
  • tonight's take out was on the bland side
  • stress and my worry head stop me from doing things
  • i can't go into my garden without being bitten alive
  • neighbours like weed killing through the fence onto my garden
  • sometimes i feel the urge to blog when i have nothing to blog about and i can't remember the idea i had for a blog post while falling asleep last night
  • i had to take down a bird feeder because squirrels literally gnawed it apart

tree

I'm happy because
  • will and grace marathons
  • long weekends with the husband
  • sarah water's new book the paying guests is pretty darn awesome so far
  • people still follow, read and comment on my blog after five years - it still amazes me

I'm excited for
  • hockey season (roll on october)
  • digging my scarves out
  • fall tv seasons restarting (agents of shield i'm looking at you)
  • painting the deck blue
  • fall leaf colours - we get spoiled in Michigan (you can see some snaps from last year here)
  • planting spring bulbs
  • making the move to more organic/green body and beauty products
  • hanging a christmas wreath on my front door, oh no i mentioned the "c" word ... oops

Why are you blank? I'd love to hear how you'd answer these statements.

  1. This is such a good idea :) These types of posts are great for getting a little insight into the person behind the blog. I may have to do it myself sometime. I'm happy because I've finally booked my honeymoon and I can't wait to have a holiday abroad! I'm excited that the rugby season starts on Saturday. Yay!

    1. Yey for booking your honeymoon - that's exciting - I bet your so excited! Rugby seemed to past me by back in the UK, although I noticed they were actually showing a match on US tv the other day, that kinda surprised me because you don't really hear people talking about it.

  2. That was a beautiful post. I'm happy because I'm back at work but I'm a little sad about it too. Missing my lazy nothing days already.

    1. I bet, always a shock to the system getting back to work after a break! I had a busy work week last week so finally hoping to get out into the garden to finishing clearing the weeds, at least that's my intentions!

  3. I too have never read anything harry potter related and never plan to! I'm also the same with phones and can't wait to get out all of my hats and scarves! In fact, I might just be a west country version of you.. Lisa x

    1. Yeah the whole Harry Potter thing passed me by really badly, I really don't get it (alongside reality TV lol). I love scarves, I have so many although while I could wear them in the UK during the summer, far too warm in Michigan. I re-found them all while packing for moving house and have them all ready for autumn now!

  4. I think a lot of things have become "cool" that weren't when we were kids ... like having a computer attached to your person at all times, for example. Random but are fish fingers that different to American fish sticks? You can probably find Gorton's brand fishsticks in most supermarkets.

    1. Oh, the days before the internet and mobile phones!

I actually have never tired a fish stick - thanks for the heads up, they look very much like fish fingers after googling them so i'm def getting some the next time we go food shopping!

  5. I love this idea! Why do you have all the good ideas first?!

I have a desire to go places, just because I like the idea of going. I would like to see Disneyland but it's not the end of the world if I don't. NYC? I could take a holiday there :) I'm just a bad friend in general, I'm also a pretty rubbish girlfriend, but I reckon Kris hasn't noticed that yet!
I like the sound of the blue deck :)

    1. See I gotta do all the hard work finding these things for you all to get new blog posts outta it! Haha

We were meant to be working on the deck this weekend, but we have to fix and clean it and then paint and well, it's like the powers at be know we need to be out in the garden so it's either been boiling hot or raining. Hopefully this weekend it'll get sorted. It's a nice mid to dark blue, hopefully with it being in the shade, it'll bring some colour into the old garden!

  6. Ha ha! My phone is always on silent. I miss calls, texts and voice mail messages ALL the time! Also, it's never to early to start day dreaming about Christmas wreaths....

    1. Yeah I get in trouble a lot with the OH because I always miss his calls ooops! I kinda want to make my own wreath, but i've never really made one before so that might be a little too adventurous for a starter!

  7. I love this post! I haven't read Harry Potter, nor have I learnt to drive (and I am nearly 30!), and I also hate answering the phone! I am sad that it took me three hours to get home from work tonight and now it's nearly bedtime!

    1. Aw that sucks - I use to get home at 7:30 most nights after work, felt like hardly had anytime to just relax before bed.

  8. Beautiful pictures! I love your lists, I am also not a big fan of Harry Potter or Twilight! I am also getting excited to watch some TV shows do you watch Downton Abbey? :)

    1. I watch Downton when I remember, although now morbid it constantly is gets a bit draining.

  9. I love every single reason that you are weird and you are right - some are weird! Harry Potter for one :p Also apple sandwiches! Not that I can knock it cuz I have never even tried them! This is a great idea. I love that you can mirror write - that is quite a skill! I am excited to move my summer wreath and get an autumn one started now!

    1. Apparently mirror writing is a bit of a rare "talent" I have no idea how I found out I could do it and I can only really do it without thinking if it's joined up and written quickly, but it's a fun party trick!

As for apple sarnies - sliced up apple on buttered bread and you're sorted. Nom!

  10. I am intrigued by the apple sarnies! Have you ever tried banana on toast? Not bad at all. I love this post, I may have to do it too.

  11. What a great idea for a blog post, thanks for sharing it and your 'blanks'. I must admit that I was never fussed about NYC (and did Disney when I was little) but lately I've been more open to going. I'm also changing my mind about India, another place I wasn't fussed about. Strange.

    1. Chicago always appealed to me far more than New York for whatever reason and it's a city I adore. I longed to visit India growing up, not sure i'll get the chance, but i'm sure it's a marvelous country to explore.

  12. Ooh I love this idea for a post! I absolutely hate talking on the phone too, I almost have a panic attack when it's time to make a doctor appointment or something of that sort. I read the twilight books when they first came out just because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, I wasn't particularly impressed but I wish I hadn't read them just so I could say I hadn't. haha

    1. Yeah it takes up a lot of guts to make phone calls I will be honest. Like books that turn into cult must reads these days - 50 Shades, Twilight, Harry Potter, they all past me by!

  13. Awww! I really love this idea, it makes a nice twist on the other one. Learning to drive was a daunting experience I have to admit to that as it would of taken me forever if I hadn't of decided there and then. I hate talking on the phone too and even worse if it's someone I don't know the other end. Have you tried a homemade version of a fish finger before? I love how all the crafty things are now cool! We clearly knew it was going to happen lol.

    1. Too right! I remember people thought I was so odd and "old fashioned" because I could sew and craft and what have you. Come in handy all along as they all jump on the trend lol. The whole just starting to get into the head space to try and learn to drive just freaks me out, drivers around here at crazy.

    1. Yeah, I still can't remember what it was, something expat related, but after that not a clue. Some nights I can remember, others nope lol. Then I go to the other extreme of writing, or at least jotting down a word, a link, an idea into a draft post on blogger, but then I come back days later and i'm liking WTF. Can't win!

  17. I can write backwards as well! I used to pass notes like that in school so they were harder to read when confiscated haha. I miss hockey season. You always make me homesick for America!

  18. Well look at you with the backwards writing skills!
Just for today I'm sulking because I have a stinking migraine which blows.

  19. Being called weird for a hobby is horrible. That always happened to me, blogging wasn't cool, neither was art, or science and mixing all of them together just made me the best target! And suddenly it's all becoming super cool and awesome and tumblr worthy and I'm like whaaat?! Go away all you wannabeees. I also apparently rant too much haha...

Lovely blog, can't believe I haven't come across it before! Came here thanks to Kerri ;) yay! Following now xx

    1. Thank you for the follow!

Yeah, it was always, haha why do you cross stitch that's so old fashioned. I use to hide away doing it in my room at university because, well it still wasn't cool even eight or so years ago. Now everyone wants to get a piece of it. But yeah, back in 2009 when I started blogging, it certainly wasn't the cool and hip thing to be doing now everyone wants a piece of it. Actually a lot of things I've always done or loved seem to be the in thing - like playing music records. I guess i'm always ahead of the trends lol.

  20. Are you left-handed? I can write backwards like mirror writing easily and I think it's because I'm left-handed. I like this kind of post: not come across it before.

    1. Well I say i'm ambidextrous - I can to a point write pretty well with my left hand (as long as it's joined up lol).

I was actually born left handed - if that's a way to word it. Everything I started doing was with my left hand - but my mam being a crafter thought i'd have too many issues being left handed so she started making me do everything with my right hand. But that only goes so far when your dad is left handed and also teaches you to do knots and DIY etc. So that's my crazy hand story!

But yes, I hear mirror writing is a lot more common with left handed people because of the way left handers see and draw out letters.
